REVIVE Athlete Report #1 | Japan National Soccer Team Player Shogo Taniguchi

This time, we interviewed Shogo Taniguchi, who contributed to Japan's advancement to the round of 16 at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, about his experience using RecoveryCare REVIVE.

What are your priorities as an athlete?

I have experienced the experience of training hard but not recovering quickly, and my performance gradually declining, and the experience of relaxing my training a little and working hard to recover, but not being able to perform well because my condition did not improve. From that experience, when I think about what is important, I feel that it is all about "training with all my might" and "recovering with all my might."

What was your first impression of REVIVE?

I still remember how small it was when I first received it. Then, when I actually used it, I was impressed by how compact it was, yet had adjustable pressure, and how it pressed firmly when pressed. I thought, "Wow, it's amazing!"

When did you use REVIVE during the World Cup?

I often used it after practice that day, after eating and taking a bath, while relaxing in bed watching the World Cup games.

What is your favorite thing about REVIVE?

I like the feeling of release after a firm pressure is applied. I can feel the air being released all at once and the blood flowing back up all at once, and I think this is the best part of using REVIVE and I really like it.

"This is amazing!" It's super compact and easy to carry around, so you can use it on trips, and it comes with a plug (that is compatible with overseas outlets) so you can take it abroad, plus I think it really improves your recovery so I definitely recommend using it.

I felt that Taniguchi's attitude of giving his all to everything he does as an athlete is the reason he is able to play a highly stable defense that does not lose to foreign players. I realized the importance of "recovering with all your might" in order to perform at your best. I look forward to seeing Taniguchi's continued success in the future.

After graduating from Otsu High School, a strong school in Kumamoto, he attended Tsukuba University and joined Kawasaki Frontale in 2014. With his blessed physique, calm playing style, versatility to play multiple defensive positions, and strength in aerial battles, including set pieces, he immediately established himself as a main player. In the 2017 season, in addition to his defensive skills, he contributed to the team's offensive side by scoring many set-piece goals from the opening game, leading the club to its long-awaited first championship, the first in the club's history. Since then, he has been selected for the J.League Best 11 for four consecutive seasons from the 2018 season, and from the 2020 season, he has become a player who represents the J.League in both name and reality, achieving two consecutive J.League championships as team captain. He was also selected for the Japanese national team for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, playing the full games against Spain and Croatia and contributing to Japan's advancement to the round of 16. In 2023, he made a full transfer to Qatar's first division club Al Rayyan SC.
